Estate & Personal Planning

Do you have a Will? Have you reviewed your Will lately?

It is important to make sure that you have a current, valid, and legally binding Will.  This is especially important if you have any of the following:

  • Children or dependants
  • Property or any real estate holdings
  • Investments or monetary assets

Do you have a Power of Attorney?

A Power of Attorney appoints a trusted person to take over your affairs when it is necessary.  This is important if:

  • You become incapacitated
  • You need some help with your financial and legal affairs

Do you have a Representation Agreement?

A Representation Agreement is used for health care and personal care matters.  There are two types:

  • Standard – covers routine financial or health care decisions
  • Enhanced – provides broader powers, including end of life decision making

Do you have an Advance Directive?

An Advance Directive – formerly known as a “Living Will” – tells health care providers what health care you want or do not want if you are unable to make those decisions yourself:

  • It sets out a person’s wishes for end of life decisions
  • It must be followed by health care providers without consulting your family or friends

This way, you get to decide who receives what and who will take care of your estate, dependants, affairs, health care matters, and personal care matters.
